While we wish all the athletes and coaches a great meet, we will be especially cheering on Fairview senior Marlena Preigh, who has been lifting with us for, if memory serves, all four years of her high school track career. It's been our privilege to work with her and we are excited to see how her career unfolds as she moves on to University of Washington this fall.
We are super excited to see what Marlena uncorks in her events this weekend. She is the defending 5A 800 meter State Champion and currently ranked 1st in the state and 2nd in the country among seniors. She also has the 2nd fastest 1600 meters in Colorado this year.
Last night was her last lifting workout before State. I took a few photos. The hay is in the barn, as they say, and so these final workouts have been about keeping the nervous system tuned up. Or as Marlena puts it,"waking my muscles up."
|One of her favorite barbell exercises, Marlena hits a few clean and jerks.|
|A kettlebell "flow" I learned from an Oregon Alum. Think I will call them the Duck Circuit.|
